Acupuncture Services

Acupuncture uses carefully placed extremely fine, disposable needles to trigger a healing response by generating adult stems cells, balancing hormones, regulating blood flow, normalizing blood sugar as well as regulating blood pressure, and stimulating the nervous system.

Gentle Japanese Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Acupuncture

At Isthmus Wellness we practice the two common styles of acupuncture: Japanese and Chinese. Japanese-style uses the body as a feedback system to determine where to place the needles. It uses finer needles with precise point location to balance the body thereby encouraging self-healing. Chinese-style uses thousands of years of clinical trials and observations to choose the specific points to needle. Chinese-style uses thicker needles with stronger stimulation to direct the body to heal. Our Acupuncturists are trained in both systems and can determine which system will be most effective for your condition.

Women’s Health and Infertility

Acupuncture effectively treats reproductive issues including male and female infertility, pregnancy complications, labor induction and breech presentation, endometriosis, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, painful periods, irregular periods, and advanced maternal age. Menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, anxiety, insomnia, and bone loss can also be greatly relieved or fully eliminated through acupuncture.

Pain Management

Acupuncture greatly reduces and, in many cases, eliminates pain from osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic or acute neck and back pain, disc herniation, sciatic nerve pain, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injuries, tendonitis, headaches, migraines, fibromyalgia, and general muscle tension. Many clients schedule appointments for pre-and post-surgical pain management to promote a fast recovery.

Emotional Health

Acupuncture encourages the brain to develop new nerve pathways to better manage stress along with reducing anxiety, depression, frustration, irritability and grief. Acupuncture releases tension in the body while encouraging overall relaxation and some clients find it more relaxing than massage.

Chronic Diseases

Acupuncture helps manage the symptoms of many chronic diseases including asthma, allergies, hypertension, Lyme disease, diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, post-stroke, post-brain injury, chronic fatigue, and autoimmune conditions. For the most part, every health condition can benefit from acupuncture’s effects of strengthening the body, balancing the immune system, reducing inflammation and tension, promoting cellular regeneration, and mapping new brain pathways.
