Initial Maya

The initial Maya session is designed to provide a deeper understanding of your reproductive health, a detailed explanation of the maya abdominal therapy session and a customized self-care plan. During the initial Maya session, your therapist will help you better understand any western diagnoses and health concerns from a holistic perspective and explain ways you can improve the outcome of your treatments. Maya therapists also look at the body-mind-spirit connection that may be affecting your reproductive health. The initial Maya session lasts for 1.5-2 hours and includes a thorough consultation, your first Maya abdominal therapy session and a custom self-care plan.

An Initial Maya is recommended for the following situations:

Gastrointestinal challenges, such as bloating, constipation, gas, abdominal pain, and scar tissue.

Reproductive health concerns for all bodies, such as painful periods, endometriosis, fibroids, irregular cycles, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), painful intercourse, erectile dysfunction, benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Integrated with Western Infertility Treatments, as well as the following:

Reproductive organs that are not located in the proper place. Often this is identified on an ultrasound as an ovary that cannot be seen or tipped uterus that closes off the opening of the cervix. With the Maya Therapists’ experience, she is attuned to what organs feel like and can usually tell when they are in proper placement and when they are not.

Fallopian tubes that are blocked, twisted or possibly damaged by endometriosis. Maya Therapy can increase circulation and nerve conduction in the fallopian tubes and can help reduce inflammation, stagnation and scar tissue and we recommend a combination of acupuncture, herbal supplements and Maya Therapy at Isthmus Wellness.

Pre- and post-surgical operations. Improving lymphatic drainage and circulation helps reduce scar tissue build-up after surgeries. Maya Therapy can benefit clients who have had or are scheduled for C-sections. Clients who have experienced heavy bleeding caused by uterine fibroids or polyps still benefit with pre- and post-operative Maya sessions.

Second or third trimester loss or a stillbirth. Our practitioners’ spiritual training and deeper understanding of life-transitions will help women with associated muscle memories from the trauma of losing a baby.

Our Maya Therapists will carefully review your health background, and are happy to work with other providers outside of Isthmus Wellness.

Self-care instruction is designed to be applied at home and will enhance the benefits of the treatments. Self-care is customized for you and is explained during the initial comprehensive appointment. The actual Maya Abdominal Therapy™ routine is similar among Maya practitioners at Isthmus Wellness.
